Me & Mats - About the Brand

At Oli Olsen we love all of our brands equally, but we realised that maybe not everyone knows the back story of them. So, we're here to help! First up the amazing Amsterdam based Me & Mats and their incredible products.

Me & Mats are the most positive people around, but it didn't always start that way. The founder Astrid (picture above) lost her son at a very early age. Although this was an incredibly tough time she persisted and realised that she wanted to fill the world with happiness, guts and glory - in memory of Mats.

Their small team in Amsterdam are the most positive people you will ever meet. They may not be able to give you Clooney or Pitt but beautiful Belgian Chocolate will certainly help.

Their collection started with their signature wrapped candles which are all natural based wax that are hand wrapped by people living with disabilities. From there it's grown from strength to strength and now have a range of candles, (tins, boxed and jars) Belgian Chocolate, handsoap, room diffusers, matches and greeting cards. Representing true craftsmanship, sourced with a passion for quality from small family owned factories across Europe. Vegan, fair trade, paraben free, sulphate free.

Hooray for cactususes...cacti?

Here at Oli Olsen HQ we are succulents for a cactus or two! (see what we did there?) They are dotted around our office like little spiky friends that add a bit of colour to the room but also say "Don't mess with us!"

The perfectly prickly pears were the inspiration taken by artist Eva Newton on creating the Goodnight Light Cactus Lamp. The plant in question was the Nopal Cactus whose vivid flowers and colourful form breaks up even the dustiest plains of Mexico.

These spiky pieces are made from shatterproof vinyl that has been intricately moulded to resemble Eva's sketches and pay homage to the real thing. This eco friendly lamp uses LED technology which means it doesn't emit heat and can last thousands of hours. They omit a wonderful warming glow across the room to create a soothing and relaxing atmosphere. It comes in 4 colours - pale green, tropical green, mint green and white.

Pineapple Fever Has Hit Oli Olsen!

We've gone Pineapple Crazy this summer with the help of Goodnight Light.

These fun and fruity numbers are a great accessory for any interior space including nurseries, bedrooms and living rooms. The original design was created by artist Eva Newton who is inspired by nature and the love of anything exotic. The lights are hand moulded in Spain using a shatterproof vinyl meaning these are sturdy things which should help if the kids get their hands on them! They use LED technology that emits a warming night glow but is environmentally friendly and does not heat up at all.
